Future Shoes

Shoes by Marloes ten Bhömer
It's like a stiletto got stuck on a space rock.

These I would actually wear... maybe.

I almost feel like these have been done before, perhaps a little too similar to McQueen's lobster claw?

Black & Bold

Today I will be shooting a fashion and beauty editorial entitled Black & Bold with my amazing friend Jon Cancelino. The shoot takes on the artful side to makeup, hair and of course styling. All of our models will be African American or bi-racial and will be wearing Springs hottest shades.
I love what designers are doing this season; airy silhouettes, bright shades and 70s references. This seasons looks channel the heyday of Halston and the free loving days of the late 60s. I kind of love it.

I love the use of flowers in the hair, dark eyes and ethereal colors.
Melissa always makes some fun kitschy shoes, this platform wedge is great for comfort and encompasses the seasons hottest color.

Versace's look book is STUNNING. I love the color, the shapes and of course the shoes. This collection is beautiful. I can't wait to use the separates in our shoot and I think I will be buying the lime tennis dress for myself.

Awww, Jeffrey Campbell. There are no words to describe his genius. Love the shoes, love this look book. the end.

Nanette Lepore has some great basics, as you can tell by everything so far, this peachy rose shade is in. It looks pretty awful on me so I will be sticking to using it in accessories and trim.

Finally, Marc Jacobs, you can do no wrong. Your show is always one of my favorites and in September you did it again. One of my favorite things to do is write down my favorite collections of the shows and then when we start the actual season, going back and taking a look back at said favorite collections. When I watched the MJ show I fell in love, I literally felt like I could wear every piece.

Fruits by Suno

Prada isn't the only one who showed fruits in their spring 2011 collections. Suno did a beautiful job with these giant pomello's, although they could be apples. What do you think?

Hobo's eating canned beans sitting in a pick up truck

My assistant stylist Nicole and I have been talking for months about shooting a farm editorial complete with hobos, canned beans, pick up trucks and beautiful clothing. This seasons looks are perfect for this concept. Hopefully D&G doesn't mind getting their adorable ruffled denim and gingham dress a little dirty.

Ruffles are one of the biggest trends for spring, this is one of those youthful frocks that work on everyone from a 0 to a 12. It is cute and hip, can be worn to the beach or for shopping. perfect little day dress.

I always enjoy seeing what Chris Benz comes up with and I would style this look ever so similarly. If you are daring enough pair different prints for a chic look. One of my favorite things to do is pair a bold big print on bottom and a smaller print on top.
Derek Lam is bringing back wide leg flares. These don't work on my body type, but for you tall slim amazonian beauties... rock these this season!

Another D&G ruffle skirted dress. I like the drab floral, but what I like more is those killer pumps.

A New type of novelty

Anyone that knows me, knows that I love a good novelty print. I have worn skirts with circus' dancing at my knees, dresses with TVs all over them and just about any fruit and floral print you could think of. The new Prada Spring 2011 collection however takes novelty to the masses and I wonder if I will be seeing any of my fabulously chic clients sporting any of the pieces.

"I'm tired of minimalism," Prada said before her show. "I asked myself, 'How can I do minimal Baroque?'"

I'm tired of the minimalism too! Bring on the bananas, colorful monkey fur scarves and bold print!
And to top your new banana chic look off you must wear this adorable vintage Banana set. Found on etsy of course!

Jewles

In preparation for my Friday shoot I am getting inspired by vintage jewelry. I feel that modern day designers rarely come up with anything new, but instead look to the past for inspiration. In my effort to keep up with daily trends, I too like to look to the past to gain inspiration for what I will wear. This week it will be all about the jewels with an arm full of bangles, ears shimmering with sparkly peridot earrings and simple garments to accentuate the elaborate pieces of jewelry I will wear.

Liu Wen in vogue Espana

Liu Wen in Vogue Espana had to be one of my favorite January editorials. I love all the layers, the abundance of styling and the simple beauty she has as a model.

If was going to wear a puffy plaid parka this would be it.

hippie dippy

There is something about this months Chinese Elle that is appealing to me. I am a 50s lover to no end and can tolerate the 70s, but there is something so effortless and chic about this cover featuring Jessica Alba that I just love.  I look at this cover and think 70s with the long wispy hair, transfixed eyes  and the pink polka dot top.

I think the best way to achieve this look would be to actually wear vintage and perhaps these are the pieces you need to achieve this sophisticated, but effortless look.

Bangles

Whether you wear one or twenty, bangles are a must have accessory for all seasons. I like pairing my contemporary multi colored jewels with some bakelite from the 50s. Today I will be wearing my customary bakelite accompanied by this adorable House of Harlow peacock bracelet.

mixing old with new

I love mixing old with new and what I love more than mixing era's is wearing skirts on winter days. Vintage combat boots, Calvin Klein down winter coat, Theory fleece cardigan, abstract plaid skirt Target, Lace knit top by Vince.

lauxesnart

Lustful, sensual, beautiful and elite. These words may come to mind when viewing the latest Givenchy ad, but the next word is probably the furthest thing from your thoughts. Transexual.
The word is a hot one. What does it mean? Well according to The Free Dictionary refers to “a person whose sexual identification is entirely with the opposite sex.” In the fashion world thin is in, but is the new it thing, a transsexual model? Well, for Givenchy his long time muse and assistant Lea T was the perfect choice for the latest ad campaign. The new it girl, formerly went by the name of Leo and is from Brazil.
How does this ad make you feel? Does your judgment change now that you know that she is a he, or are you unfazed by the idiosyncratic lady that is Lea T?
